Varena - Holidays in one of the oldest Settlements of the Trentino
Varena is a small village in the Fiemme
Valley. About 800 people live here at the foot of Mt.
Schwarzhorn.
If one for the biggest Christmas cribs in the
whole world as well as the Passo Lavazè with its
ski slopes and
cross-country ski center, Varena would probably be no more than a
mere one-horse town right in the middle of the mountains. But it is
exactly this giant Christmas crib which makes Varena so special.
The Nativity Story is told on an area of unbelievable 2500 m² with
90 biblical figures and 120 animal
figures. A 700 m long path leads right through this
amazing crib-area.
The 8 km distant Passo Lavàze is, however, more interesting for
athletes. There are a lot of sunny slopes and
cross-country ski runs, all together 80 km. There is no need to say
that the Passo Lavàze is also a rewarding area in summer with its
attractive hiking paths
and mountain bike
tracks.
