In the middle of Cavalese you can find the most beautiful palace in the whole Fiemme Valley: the "Palazzo della Magnificà Comunità di Fiemme". In the 13th century the palace was the summer-residence of the bishops of Trento and since 1850 it has been the representation seat of the valley administration and government.
Already in the 11th century the valley became independent. Today the Fiemme Valley and the rest of Trentino and South Tyrol have a special autonomy.
