Carano - holidays with alpine style
Carano is one of the oldest villages in the whole Fiemme
Valley and it is situated close to Cavalese at 1000
m above sea level. It offers breathtaking views over the
surrounding Dolomite-peaks, especially on the Mt. Pale di San
Martino.
Like Cavalese and many other villages in the Fiemme Valley,
Carano makes part of the Dolomiti Superski
Association. That means: skiing on more than
500 km of slopes with one ski pass only. Really worth seeing is the
ancient village core of Carano. There is the parish
church S. Nicolò, built in 1193,
and surrounded by a lot of medieval houses, some of them
decorated with frescoes. Worth visiting is also the mineral
water spring in the Via Val dell'Osta street. In
the 18th century it was found out, that this water helps against
rheumatism and skin diseases. From then onwards, many people came
here to take cures. However in the last century the water cures
were neglected. In recent days though the cures have had a comeback
in Carano.
In brief: Carano is a typical Alpine
village with Trentino style and medieval
roots. Holiday makers will never get bored here, neither
in winter nor in summer!
