Capriana - holidays in the south-west of Val di Fiemme
Capriana is surrounded by beautiful woods and meadows
and it is one of the smallest villages in the Fiemme
Valley. Only 600 people live here, at about 1,000 m above sea
level. Spending holidays here means living like the villagers and
exploring the nature hiking, biking or skiing in
winter.
Capriana is situated at the southern entrance of the Nature Park
"Trudner Horn". In this unique area there is South
Tyrol's only canyon, the "Bletterbachschlucht".
You can make a journey back in time, learn more about the formation
of the Dolomites and walk through the larch-forests of Monte Gua on
the European Hiking Path E/5.
In wintertime skiers and snowboarders can enjoy the skiing areas
of Monte Cermis and Pampeago. Both are only a few driving minutes
from Capriana. Monte Cermis attained sad fame, when in 1998 an
American military airplane crashed into a cable car and killed 20
people.
